Seen the original GFR in ‘75 and when they reunited. Great band led by Mark. Brewer wants to be Don Henley so bad and he isn’t close.All he has is a cover band that needs Garner to rock! Several chances to see GFR now, just can’t do it

I can’t believe there is no mention of Captain Beyond here…a band Rod co- created and co- wrote some of the best early 1970’s music ever, there are live performances on RUclips and the band still tours with 1 original member. As I understand it Rod left the music industry forever to become a specialized Medical person…..imagine that ….. somewhere out west somebody is being helped by a nice medical person…… If they only knew……😊….. Honestly, if he weren't a decade out of practice he could have sounded decent. I'm not sure there would have been much difference if he were fronting MK II instead of Gillan if he trained himself to sing with a more hard rock voice

And with this debacle Rod Evans lost all his rights to ANY of his era Purple material and subsequently disappeared into the ether. Scared of what Purple might do? Was Don Arden involved lol? That said they sounded pretty good. Kinda like more Light Lavender less Deep Purple.

Well he did get inducted in the RRHOF along with the other members so they didn't write him out of the band's history. His name is there on the website but Rod didn't show up (neither did Blackmore). I do recall Blackmore saying this move (the fake DP ) was (I'm paraphrasing) "a bit unusual for Rod whom I liked as a person". The ensuing legal action from this "tour" involved him compromising his DP royalties to avoid further punitive damages.

This man is 1 of my all time HERO"S Good music good heart and a proud AMERICAN ROCK ICON. Mr. GRAND FUNK Period.

If Rod Evans had instead called it "Rod Evans sings the Songs of Deep Purple" he probably would have done just fine, and maybe even Nick Simper would have joined him. Sadly he allowed himself to be persuaded to use the Deep Purple label and he got shut out of the music industry for good.

My favorite song and the entire side one of this album. I remember rocking air guitar and singing along. Just fantastic. I’m 65 and never to old to rock n roll and to long to die . Oops, that’s my other favorite band.😊☮️

First time I took notice of Mark Farner In 1971 I was hooked with his song writing ability, singing and bad ass guitar playing.
